It’s cold. It’s winter. And I want to drink a hot cocoa! Luckily, I have a handy bag of Hot Cocoa Mix from LC Foods to try!
The preparation is very easy – add 1/4 cup of the mix, water and a little cream to a cup and microwave. Taste-wise, it’s quite sweet with a great chocolate flavor. Definitely very satisfying and warming. Although as a low-carber I’d be tempted to add even more cream to it! 🙂
Let’s look at the product in more detail: Low Lactose, Low Carb, Gluten Free, Diabetic Friendly, and free of artificial sweeteners. The sweetness of the hot cocoa comes from “organic stevia rebaudiana leaf extract” and “natural luo han guo monk fruit extract”. And as for carbs we’re looking at 15g total, 14g fiber, net carbs 1g per serving. No complaints about that!
Here are some serving suggestions from the company:
- Top with whipped cream or our low carb marshmallow fluff
- Stir in some instant coffee, cinnamon or peppermint extract
They also suggest using an immersion blender to make the hot chocolate more frothy before serving. This time I grated a *tiny* bit of white chocolate and dark chocolate over the top, but next time I think I’ll try out the marshmallow option! Low Carb Hot Cocoa Mix Review #lowcarb Click To Tweet
