When it comes to 95% of the meals that I cook, I want something that doesn’t take a lot of preparation time. In my 20s I had the time and energy to cook more complicated dishes, but now I just seem to go for quick and easy! With that in mind, I just HAD to share this marinade with you. Because this is as quick and easy as it gets!
This marinade doesn’t even need any salt or pepper when you grill or fry it. So what’s the marinade?
SOY SAUCE. It’s salty and it’s full of deep savory flavor. I usually only use it for Asian cooking but the final result doesn’t really taste very Asian at all. So here I have some petite sirloin steaks, and I just pop them in a resealable bag with about ¼ cup of soy sauce.
Put the steak bag into the fridge (I put it in a bowl first in case any of the soy sauce escapes!). Leave it there for at least an hour, turning occasionally. Then bring them to room temperature and grill or fry as normal.
The soy sauce will make the appearance of the steak a little darker on the outside, and the meat will be full of flavor! Shown here with Raw Zucchini and Broccoli Salad with Mint and Feta.
