Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Prepare the butter and milk as listed in the ingredients list. See Note 1.
- Grease a 9 x 13" baking dish with non-stick spray or similar, then pour the chocolate cake mix into the dish.
- Next, sprinkle the pudding mix over the cake mix.
- Combine the (same-temperature) milk and melted butter in a jug, then pour it into the dish. Use a whisk or fork to very lightly combine everything.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over everything, and bake for about 40 minutes. See Note 2.
- Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before serving.

1. If you try mixing hot melted butter into cold milk, the butter will solidify and which isn't good! Ensure that the two ingredients are roughly the same temperature before combining.
2. Like all dump cakes this won't set hard - which isn't a problem because it doesn't contain raw eggs. It is supposed to be gooey - which is partly due to the pudding mix but also because of the style of recipe.
