Step-by-Step Instructions
- Place the gummy bear molds on a small tray or chopping board so they're easy to move once filled.
- In a small saucepan, combine one flavor of sugar free Jello, one envelope of unflavored gelatin, ¼ teaspoon citric acid and ¼ cup water. Cook over low heat, stirring gently, for 2 to 3 minutes, until all the crystals have dissolved.
- Remove from the heat and use the dropper to fill the 50 cavities of one mold.
- Repeat with the two other flavors, filling one mold per flavor.
- Leave the bears at room temperature until fully set, at least 1 hour.
- Carefully pop the bears out of the molds and place them in a bowl. In a smaller bowl, mix the powdered sweetener with ¼ teaspoon citric acid.
- Sprinkle the sour coating over the gummy bears and stir well until they're evenly coated.

Notes
This sour gummy recipe makes 150 gummy bears in 3 flavors (50 per tray). One serving is 25 gummy bears.
The sweetener in the sour coating is not counted in the nutrition facts, as it adds no net carbs.
For the best sour sparkle, toss the bears in the coating shortly before serving. The citric acid slowly draws moisture out of the gummies and turns sticky after a day or two.
Store the gummies in an airtight container at room temperature and eat within a couple of days.
For Halloween, make sour gummy worms with a gummy worm mold, or use spooky flavor combinations like lime and orange.
