If you've ever enjoyed a diet cherry limeade from Sonic, here's my copycat version! It's seriously refreshing, plus you can make it into a grown-up version by adding a splash of vodka - perfect for a treat on a hot day!
To recreate this drink, you'll need some sugar free soda, cherry syrup, crushed ice, and fresh lime. Here's some more detail:
Low Carb Lemon and Lime Soda Options
There's a wide range available, with different sweeteners and availabilities. And they're all zero carb!
- Diet Sprite or Sprite Zero
- Zevia Lemon Lime Twist
- Diet Mountain Dew
- Virgil's Lemon Lime Soda
- Diet Sierra Mist
- Lemon Lime Sparkling Ice
- Diet 7Up
Low Carb Cherry Flavoring Options
Not quite so many to choose from here! But my top choice is Da Vinci Cherry Sugar Free Syrup, which you can order from Amazon. It adds flavor, a bright bold color, and sweetness! Does it taste like real cherries? No, not really. But does it give you the "fake" cherry flavor needed for this drink? Absolutely!
Other options are ICEE Cherry Water Enhancer, or MiO black cherry, or other sucralose-based syrups like Skinny Mixes or Torani. Please note that I haven't tested this recipe with the water enhancers, so you'll have to use your own judgement when it comes to quantities.
How to Make a Low Carb Cherry Limeade
Use a citrus squeezer to squeeze some fresh lime juice into a jug.
Add the soda, cherry syrup, and vodka, if using. Stir well, and taste for sweetness. Add more syrup as desired.
Crush some ice (I just do this in a plastic baggie with a meat tenderizer!) and pour it into two glasses. Divide the cherry mixture between the two.
Garnish with a slice of lime.
