These chipotle burgers are fantastic on their own, but even better when loaded up with your favorite toppings! Low carb, gluten free, and keto friendly recipe.

What started as a simple idea for a recipe got rather complicated in the end! I figured I would just make spicy burgers – and they turned out great. But then I just kept adding toppings and it became a fantastic feast of flavors and textures. You can totally personalize them too – either let everyone make their own or change the toppings to suit the tastes of your family or guests.
You'll need some burger buns, of course – so check out my list of low carb buns – which includes both store-bought and homemade options:
Note: Not all the buns featured in this list are gluten free.
How to Make Low Carb Chipotle Burgers
Place some ground beef in a large bowl, together with some chipotle powder, paprika, and ground cumin.
Add some salt and pepper and mix well. Divide the mixture into four sections and form them into patties.
Preheat the grill or a grill pan, and cook the burgers until they have reached an internal temperature of 165F. Meanwhile, prepare the toppings. I used:
- sliced chihuahua cheese
- cooked bacon
- sliced avocado
- chipotle aioli
But you could also try:
- regular or chipotle mayo
- sliced fresh jalapeños
- lettuce
- queso fresco or any sliced cheese
- fresh cilantro leaves
- sour cream
Place the cooked chipotle burgers into low carb buns, add your chosen toppings, and tuck in! Shown below is a Keto Friendly burger bun from Natural Ovens, which I have found them in my local Woodman's, Sunset Foods, and Mariano's (Kroger). They contain 1g net carb each, don't need to be stored in the fridge or freezer, are super soft, and taste great (although they're not gluten free)! Here's their store locator.
