Mushrooms… butter… cream… what's not to like?!? But the addition of fresh basil really makes this dish into something more interesting. The flavor combination is fantastic!
Add some olive oil and unsalted butter to a large pan and place over a low-medium heat until the butter has melted. Add some halved or quartered mushrooms and some garlic paste, and stir well so that they are coated in the butter and oil.
Cook for 10-12 minutes or until the mushrooms are tender. The mushrooms and butter will make your kitchen smell SO good!!! When the mushrooms are ready, add in a little heavy cream and season with black pepper and salt. When the cream has warmed through, add some shredded fresh basil leaves and serve.
Variations: Add extra ingredients like bacon bits, Parmesan, or chilli flakes. Or instead of serving this as a side dish, it could form part of a tapas meal. Alternatively, turn this dish into a lunch for two by serving it over toasted low carb bread! - 1 tsp garlic paste
- 2 tbs heavy cream
- black pepper and salt
- shredded fresh basil leaves
