How to Make Green Beans with Bacon

This recipe is really quite quick to prepare and cook. Trim the green beans and cook them in boiling water for about four minutes – they should just start to get soft. Drain the beans and rinse in cold water to stop them cooking – they should be a nice bright green!

At this point I usually pause to cook whatever protein I'm also providing. Then I can continue with the recipe just before everything else is ready.

In a large skillet, melt some butter. Add the drained beans, chopped cooked bacon and season with black pepper. When everything is warmed through, add some shredded Parmesan. There is usually no salt required thanks to the bacon and cheese!

Ingredients

  • 7 oz fresh green beans, trimmed and chopped
  • 1 tbs unsalted butter
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, chopped
  • black pepper
  • 2 tbs shredded Parmesan

Instructions

  1. Cook the beans in boiling water for four minutes or until tender. Drain then rinse with cold water.
  2. Melt the butter in a skillet, then add the beans, bacon and black pepper. Stir well.
  3. Add the Parmesan then transfer to a serving dish.
