I absolutely love playing about with something as “ordinary” as ‘slaw – and I have several different coleslaw recipes on this site. It's usually naturally low in carbohydrates anyway, as the basic recipe is just cabbage, mayo, and seasonings. With this version I've gone sweet AND spicy – and it's SO good!
The key to the flavor blend is how I've added the sweetness – which is sugar free honey! There are several options available to buy using different sweeteners or you can make your own!
How to Make a Keto Sweet & Spicy Coleslaw
Make the dressing by combining regular mayo, white wine vinegar (or apple cider vinegar), honey, and Tabasco (or your favorite hot sauce). I recommend starting with a small amount of the Tabasco, and taste testing while adding more until the desired level of heat has been reached.
In a large bowl, combine coleslaw mix (shredded green cabbage, red cabbage, and carrots), diced red bell pepper, and cilantro leaves.
Add the dressing, stir well to combine, then season with salt and black pepper.
Cover and store in the fridge for up to three days.
This slaw is best the day after it has been made. Try serving it with any grilled or roasted meat or fish!
