These lemon pepper chicken wings are so full of flavor, and are ideal for a low carb appetizer.

I don’t think I ever get tired of trying new chicken wing dishes. I made a collection of 18 low carb recipes – check them out!!!! This recipe is absolutely perfect for an appetizer or party, but you may want to increase the quantity depending on the number of guests. I’ve used 8 wings here (16 sections) which is about 1.75lb. Quite frankly, they taste so good I can eat them all by myself for lunch and at 0.4g net carbs for the whole recipe I make no excuses! So this recipe is highly recommended, although you may not like how many wings other people will want to eat… 🙂
Prepare the wings by cutting off the tips and splitting the other two sections in half with a sharp pair of poultry shears or a knife. Place them on a baking tray lined with foil or a silicone mat and spray with olive oil spray.
Bake the wings in a preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until cooked through. Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by melting butter in a small bowl in the microwave. Grate over some lemon zest using a zester (like this Microplane one).
Stir in onion powder, salt and lots of black pepper. When the chicken wings are cooked, brush the sauce over the top of each one. (And don’t worry about that silicone mat – I rinse it and put it in the dishwasher and it comes out perfectly clean!)

These chicken wings are seasoned with lemon and black pepper - and are seriously low in carbs!
- 8 chicken wings tips removed, remaining wing cut into two sections
- olive oil spray
- 2 tbs unsalted butter
- zest from one lemon
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- salt and black pepper
- Preheat the oven to 400F.
- Place the chicken wing pieces on a baking tray lined with foil or a silicone mat. Spray with olive oil spray. Roast for 30-40 minutes or until cooked through.
- Meanwhile, melt the butter in a small bowl in the microwave. Add the lemon zest, onion powder, salt and pepper.
- When the wings are cooked, spoon over the lemon butter mixture. Add extra black pepper if desired.
0.2g net carbs per serving (half the recipe).
