This super thick and creamy low carb chocolate hazelnut shake is a real treat in a glass!

My inspiration for recipes comes from all over the place: from high carb recipes seen in books or online that I want to convert, to gorgeous ingredients that I want to combine, to just random ideas that pop into my head. This low carb drink recipe was inspired by buying a reduced-price-but-still-in-date mini bottle of Torani Sugar Free Hazelnut Syrup that I bought recently. In my book Low Carb Chocolate Recipes I often use sugar free sweetening syrup, either in plain or chocolate flavor, but I really wanted to try the hazelnut version. And to me, that meant combining with chocolate somehow for that Nutella-esque taste. I also wanted to create a super thick shake, so I have used quite a lot of heavy cream. Perfect for anyone following a LCHF diet!
Add heavy cream, sugar free hazelnut syrup, chocolate extract (optional, but recommended) and unsweetened cocoa powder to a stick blender jug. I have a KitchenAid stick blender which is SUCH a useful tool in the kitchen!
Blend until the cocoa powder is fully incorporated and the mixture is starting to look like whipped cream! Add 2-4 tablespoons of unsweetened almond milk to thin it out a little, and blend until smooth.

Low Carb Chocolate Hazelnut ShakePrint
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 tbs sugar free hazelnut flavor syrup
- 1 tbs unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2-4 tbs unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tsp chocolate extract optional
- Add the cream, syrup, cocoa powder and extract (if using) to a stick blender jug.
- Blend until the cocoa is fully incorporated and the mixture is thick.
- Add the almond milk and blend until smooth.
4g net carbs per serving
