Do you love the idea of a Nutella-flavored hot chocolate? Me too! Obviously I'm not using actual Nutella – two tablespoons contain over 20 grams of carbohydrates! Luckily there are plenty of low carb alternatives, and I discuss the merits of five of them in my comparison article:
For this recipe I used Pyure Organic Hazelnut Spread which is sweetened with erythritol and is 2g net carbs per serving of two tablespoons. It's very scoopable and tastes great!
How to Make a Low Carb “Nutella” Hot Chocolate
In a small saucepan, add some unsweetened almond milk and low carb chocolate hazelnut spread. For extra chocolate-factor, I added some Choc Zero chocolate syrup.
Place over a low-medium heat and whisk the ingredients together (use a non-stick whisk if you're using a non-stick pan!).
When the mixture is smooth and is the right temperature, pour it into a mug. Garnish with whipped cream and grated low carb chocolate (I used Lily's Original Dark Chocolate)!
The hot chocolate is thick, warm, sweet, and oh so comforting!
