This low carb paloma is a refreshing grapefuit-flavored cocktail! A sugar free and keto-friendly drink for a hot day!

Have you heard of a Paloma cocktail? It's a tequila-based cocktail that is perfect for a hot day! Standard ingredients include tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice and club soda (or grapefruit soda).
The only problem ingredient there is the grapefruit: I'm not aware of any low carb grapefruit soda, and there's about 23g of carbohydrates in a cup of grapefruit juice!
The solution is Capella – a company that makes LOADS of flavor drops that I found on Netrition. They're zero carb (and zero everything, actually) and are not sweetened in any way. So they're very versatile. As well as the grapefruit flavor, they have lots of amazing varieties like Churro, Espresso, Sweet Tangerine, Root Beer, Grenadine, Gingerbread, Boston Cream Pie and Chocolate Glazed Doughnut! Think of all the possible uses for those flavors!
Update: So as soon as I posted this – I was inundated by other grapefruit drink alternatives – so if these are available to you, you might like to consider:
- Spindrift seltzer
- Sparkling Ice
- and apparently Svedka make a grapefruit and jalapeño flavored vodka which could come in useful here!!!
How to Make a Low Carb Paloma Cocktail
So to make my version of a low carb paloma, combine tequila, lime juice, a few drops of grapefruit flavoring, homemade simple syrup together in a glass. Fill the glass with ice then top it up with club soda.

- 2 tbs tequila
- 1 tbs lime juice
- 1 tbs homemade simple syrup
- 5-6 drops grapefruit flavoring, or to taste
- club soda
- Combine the tequila, lime juice, a few drops of grapefruit flavoring, simple syrup together in a glass.
- Fill the glass with ice then top it up with club soda.
