Enter these salmon patties! Not only are they ridiculously easy to make, but they're also a fantastic way to add more healthy fats to your diet.

Plus, with the help of canned salmon and a few pantry staples, this recipe makes for a quick, budget-friendly, weeknight meal.

This Keto Salmon Patties Recipe Is...

Low-Carb and Keto-Friendly: These patties are made with almond flour, so they're completely grain-free and low in carbs.
Packed with Protein: Canned salmon is rich in protein and omega-3s, making these patties as nutritious as they are tasty.
Quick and Easy: You can have this recipe on the table in under 30 minutes - perfect for those busy nights when you need something fast but still want to serve a homemade dinner.
Customizable: Add your favorite spices or herbs, drizzle with your favorite sauce, serve them with a side salad, or throw them in a lettuce wrap for a full keto meal.

Key Ingredients & Substitutions

Canned Salmon: The star of the show! Canned salmon is not only affordable but also packed with protein and healthy fats. Be sure to drain it well before using. You can substitute with cooked, fresh salmon if you prefer.

Almond Flour: This keto-friendly flour helps bind the patties without adding any excess carbs. If you don't have almond flour on hand, you could substitute it with coconut flour, though you'll need less since coconut flour absorbs more moisture.

Mayo: This adds creaminess and moisture to the patties. If you're looking for a lighter option, you can swap it with Greek yogurt.

Eggs: Eggs act as a binder in this recipe, helping to hold the patties together.

Dried Herbs: Dried parsley and dill weed give these patties a fresh, herby flavor. You could also use fresh herbs if you have them on hand - just double the amount.

Spices: Onion powder, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes add a punch of flavor and a touch of heat. Feel free to adjust the spice level to your liking!

Lemon: Both the juice and zest of half a lemon bring brightness and acidity to balance the richness of the salmon and mayo.

Helpful Tips

Drain the Salmon Well: Make sure to drain the canned salmon thoroughly to avoid excess moisture, which can make the patties fall apart during cooking.

Don't Overcrowd the Pan: When frying the patties, give them plenty of space in the pan. Overcrowding can cause the patties to steam instead of getting that beautiful golden crust.

Use the Right Oil: Olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil are great options for frying these salmon patties. They're all keto-friendly and offer slightly different flavor profiles - coconut oil will add a bit of sweetness, while avocado oil is more neutral.

Make-Ahead Option: You can easily make these patties ahead of time and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days. They also freeze well - just cook them first, then freeze in an airtight container. When you're ready to eat, just reheat them in the oven or a skillet.

Variations to Try

Add Cheese: For a little cheesy goodness, mix some grated Parmesan or cheddar cheese into the patties.

Go Fresh: If you have fresh salmon on hand, cook and flake it to use in place of canned salmon. Although, I personally think fresh salmon is best shown off in a dish like these Teriyaki Salmon Skewers or this Simple Glazed Salmon.

Spice It Up: If you like things spicy, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of your favorite hot sauce into the mixture.

How to Serve Keto Salmon Patties

These salmon patties are super versatile! Here are a few serving ideas:

With a Side Salad: Pair the patties with a simple side salad made with leafy greens, cucumbers, and a keto-friendly dressing like ranch or a tangy lemon vinaigrette.

In a Lettuce Wrap: Serve the patties in crunchy lettuce leaves for a low-carb alternative to buns. Add some avocado slices, a dollop of sour cream, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Yum!

With a Dipping Sauce: A squeeze of lemon is always a great option, but these patties also pair beautifully with keto-friendly tzatziki sauce, tartar sauce, garlic aioli, or a creamy dill sauce.

The Process: Step by Step

Prepare the Mixture:

In a large bowl, combine the drained salmon, almond flour, mayo, eggs, herbs, spices, lemon juice, and zest. Mix everything until well combined.

Form the Patties:

Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions, then flatten each into a patty shape.

Cook the Patties:

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Serve:

Serve hot, garnished with additional lemon slices for that extra burst of flavor.
