Low Carb Bacon Avocado and Turkey Burgers

These bacon, avocado and turkey burgers are healthy and delicious! They are egg free and gluten free – and are served with mayo and a low carb bun.

As well as being low carb and keto friendly, these burgers are egg free, gluten free, and grain free. By processing the ground turkey and avocado together, the ingredients hold together better. You could add in an egg if you wanted – but there's absolutely no need for any breadcrumbs or similar.

Because of the avocado I don't recommend preparing the burgers in advance – so make them just before you are ready to cook. It doesn't take long!

How to Make Low Carb Bacon Avocado and Turkey Burgers

Make the burger patties by combining ground turkey, diced avocado, garlic paste and a generous amount of salt and pepper in a food processor

Blend until smooth.

Then add some cooked chopped bacon and pulse a few times. Form the mixture into four patties – whatever thickness you prefer. The mixture will be rather “wet” but will still hold together while cooking.

Cook them on the grill (or a grill pan if you prefer to cook inside!) until cooked through. A probe thermometer is really useful for this – you need them to reach an internal temperature of at least 165F.

These bacon, avocado and turkey burgers are healthy and delicious! They are egg free and gluten free - and are served in a low carb bun.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 ripe avocado, roughly chopped
  • 1 tbs garlic paste
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, chopped
  • low carb bun, salad leaves and mayo, to serve

Instructions

  1. Add the turkey, avocado, garlic, and a generous amount of salt and pepper to a food processor, and blend until smooth.
  2. Add the bacon and pulse just twice.
  3. Form the mixture into four patties and cook on the grill (or grill pan) for 15-20 minute or until they have reached an internal temperature of at least 165F.
  4. Serve with lettuce, mayo, and a low carb bun.
