As the nights draw in and the days get colder, what could be better than to snuggle by the fire with a warming mug of low carb hot chocolate? This is such an easy recipe – and it's super easy to personalize, too! How about some peppermint extract, or a few shakes of ground cinnamon? Or perhaps you want to add some coffee and make it into a mocha, or even some orange extract? Whichever option you choose, you're going to love it!

How to Make a Low Carb Hot Chocolate

To make the hot chocolate, add heavy cream, unsweetened almond milk, and unsweetened cocoa powder to a small saucepan. Cook over a medium heat until the cocoa has fully dissolved. A non-stick whisk is useful for this task!

Add some liquid sweetener (I use liquid stevia) to taste, stirring well between tests. Once you have everything as you like it, transfer the hot chocolate to a mug or glass.

If you want to make it even more special, add some whipped cream and some shavings of low carb chocolate. For the chocolate I like Lily's Dark Original, and I use a vegetable peeler to make the shavings!
