My inspiration for recipes comes from all over the place: from high carb recipes seen in books or online that I want to convert, to gorgeous ingredients that I want to combine, to just random ideas that pop into my head. This low carb drink recipe was inspired by a mini bottle of Torani Sugar Free Hazelnut Syrup that I bought.
However, I have since updated this recipe to use a low carb chocolate hazelnut spread for the flavor – which I think is far superior. If you're looking for the old recipe, the ingredients are ½ cup heavy cream, 2 tbs sugar free hazelnut flavor syrup, 1 tbs unsweetened cocoa powder, 4 tbs unsweetened almond milk, and 1 tsp chocolate extract, optional.
Chocolate and hazelnut are a pretty awesome combination – one I've used many times to make truffles, pies, cookies, and more! Check out all my chocolate hazelnut recipes.
For the chocolate hazelnut spread I used NutiLight, which is available from Amazon or Netrition. But take a look at my comparison article with my reviews on FIVE different products!
How to Make a Low Carb Chocolate Hazelnut Shake
Add heavy cream, unsweetened almond milk, and chocolate hazelnut spread to blender. I use the single serve option on my Ninja but I've used my KitchenAid stick blender too in the past.
Blend until the ingredients are fully incorporated and the mixture has thickened. Taste for sweetness and add some low carb simple syrup or liquid sweetener as necessary.
Enjoy your super thick sugar-free and low carb chocolate hazelnut shake!
