I'm sure that you know by now how much I love the holidays, fun food, and fathead dough – so it's no surprise that they're all coming together in this fun Christmas tree recipe!

If you haven't tried fat head dough yet – check out my full guide and video tutorial:

This recipe is based on my super-cute lamb-shaped pull-apart bread for Easter, although I have doubled the recipe AND stuffed the “bread rolls” with extra cheese. Oh, and brushed it with extra cheese on top. Yes – this is NOT a low fat recipe!

How to Make Keto Pull-Apart Bread

Make the dough by adding shredded mozzarella and cream cheese to a bowl, and microwave it for one minute. Stir, then cook for another 30 seconds. Repeat until the mozzarella is fully melted. Add in some almond flour, a beaten egg, and  black pepper. Stir well to combine. Let the dough cool enough so that you can handle it, then knead until smooth. Add extra almond flour if it is too sticky to work with.

Form a small ball and flatten it. Place a piece of string cheese in the center.

Fold the dough around the string cheese and make sure all seams are joined. Place on a baking sheet lined with a silicone mat or parchment paper. Continue with the rest of the dough, forming a tree shape as you place the balls.

Roast in a preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Meanwhile, melt some butter and stir in some finely grated Parmesan.

When the bread has cooked, carefully transfer it to a serving platter, then brush each ball with the butter.

Sprinkle some finely sliced fresh basil over the top (you could also use parsley or chives), and serve warm. I also added a few shakes of red pepper flakes for bonus color!
