Crunchy, creamy, and with a wonderful hint of maple – these nutty pralines are a wonderful sweet snack.  I've used a combination of slivered almonds and pecan halves – but you could use whatever combination you like! You could add in some walnuts, chopped brazil nuts, macadamias or hazelnuts – or even a few seeds like pumpkin, flax, or sunflower!

These maple nut pralines are pretty quick to make – but make sure you don't have any interruptions, as both the nuts and the butter mixture can burn easily!

How to Make Low Carb Maple Nut Pralines

Prepare the nuts by dry frying them in a skillet until they start to turn darker and release an aroma (or, if you happen to have the oven on, you can roast them in there instead).Low Carb Maple Nut Pralines - a sugar free sweet treat!

In a saucepan, combine butter, heavy cream and low carb maple syrup. I love the maple and vanilla syrup from ChocZero – it is wonderfully thick, tastes amazing, and isn't maltitol-based like a lot of other sugar free maple products you can buy. You can get it from Amazon or Netrition!

Continue cooking the butter mixture until it starts to darken – be careful not to let it burn, though!

As soon as it darkens, add it to the toasted nuts and stir well to coat them completely. Add a little salt, too (the first time I made these I skipped the salt but it really does need it!). Spoon the mixture into 16 holes of a mini muffin pan.Low Carb Maple Nut Pralines - a sugar free sweet treat!

Let the pralines cool slightly, then place in the fridge until they have hardened. Release them from the muffin pan and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
