I actually only started eating avocados and guacamole five years ago. It was a texture thing; I couldn't even bring myself to taste it! Then one evening I was at a Mom's night out at a Mexican restaurant. I was super hungry and overheard someone say that the guacamole was “really spicy”. Now, I rather like my spicy food, so I gave in and tried it. It was… OK. But I soon got used to the flavor and texture – but it was probably another year before I could actually prepare it for myself!
As you can see from the recipes below, it is something that I now enjoy and eat regularly. And as I'm guessing that you enjoy them too, let's move on!
Are Avocados Low Carb?
One avocado (average weight 7 ounces) contains 17 grams of carbohydrates, but 13g of that is fiber! So 4g net carbs for a whole avocado definitely makes it low carb and keto friendly. And as you probably know it contains over 20 vitamins and minerals, including potassium, lutein, and folate. So it is definitely good for you!
